Ed Zarick, the self-taught engineer, made this new machine named “PlayBox” – A 22″ laptop that combines a PlayStation 4 and Xbox One into one, he also produced separate laptop editions of each console, before.
He describes the details of this Playbox as;
PS4 sits on the left hand side of the unit, and the XBOX ONE is on the right side. The whole unit still only takes one power cord (must be plugged in) and only one unit can be powered on at the same time. This system took a lot of attempts and reconfiguring to make everything fit and still some things had to be compromised to make the system work, for example it was impossible to get the USB ports on the XBOX to be extended to the outside of the case. But the unit does offer Ethernet ports for both units (WiFi for both units also works) Along with HDMI Out.
There’s a red switch on the rear of the machine which alternates power between the two consoles, while a smart HDMI switcher inside the machine will automatically change the signal.
He also said that, this was a prototype unit for a customer and it is not for sale. More can be built in the future, but due to the high cost and complexity of the process, it will be substantially more than normal XBOOKs or PLAYBOOKs.
