Solving the mystery of these caves require exploration and some combat as well. If you want to complete all these caves, then you need a Grappling Claw. It can be obtained very early in the game from Wogah. Also get a good amount of animal fat to light your weapons. Also throw your lit weapon across water into some objects so that you can light your weapon again.

Cave of Blood Claws
- Difficulty: Medium
- Reward: 780 XP
Follow the short path into the cave, then dive into the water below. Find the objective marker, and use your Hunter Vision to locate if you are not able to find it. The small bit of Cedar nearby and head that way. Climb up the path you reach and keep crouching while following this path. You’ll reach a small bonfire guarded by an Udam Warrior. Kill him with your bow, then jump across the broken bridge and light the bonfire.
By staying near the bonfire use your bow to kill the Leopard that guards the area below, then hop down and follow the path to a climbing spot at its dead end. After climbing the second climbing spot you will reach in a room with three Leopards. Use your bow with flaming arrows to keep Leopards away from you due to their fear of fire and also you can track easier.
After killing the animals, run toward the waterfall, locating the grapping point that is just above it. Follow the path through to the backside of another waterfall and keep your spear ready as another Leopard attacks you the moment you step through the waterfall and into the water. Use your Hunter Vision to find the climbing spots across the room and climb four different times to reach the top, and then follow the wooden platform to a dead end marked by an Eagle Cave Painting.
Find two grappling points. After reaching the top, carefully follow the platform. Once you enter a larger cave area, light the platform on fire. This fire spreads all the way up to the small bonfire, scaring off the Leopard, and lighting the way out of this area. After that jump a few gaps to reach the next area so be sure to watch where you step as falling could be dangerous.
After reaching the large cliff, look on your left side and stick to the wall. This path will lead you to the bottom of the cliffs. When in the water at the bottom, use your Hunter Vision to find climbing spots. These two climbing spots lead up to a grappling point.
Pull yourself up to the top of the grappling point, then find next grappling point and pull yourself. Upon reaching the top you need to jump a few gaps on the path leading toward the objective marker. Light the small bonfire near the top to help light the way.
Follow the path into a large day lit area where an Udam warrior fighting a Leopard that blocks your path. Fin the way out by using the broken down tree.
Cave of the Drowned
- Difficulty: Medium
- Reward: 780 XP
After entering the cave, drop down into the water and go left, away from the waterfall. After finding a point to climb, use it. You will reach a small camp of Udam containing two Archers and a Warrior. Use your bow, and kill one farthest from the fire out first, then look left and take the other two out before they notice you. After some time outside looking over the water you swam through at the beginning, you come across a cave with a small fork. Both point at the same stretch of water.
From the left side of the fork you can use the above grappling point to swing to the platform on the right side. Be careful! If you touch the water while swinging you immediately lose your hold on the grapple. You can swim across the water, through the gap between the two platforms, before locating a climb spot hidden on the back side of the right platform.
Kill the Bitefish before swinging or swimming to avoid taking any damage. After reaching on the top of the right platform jump the small gap to the other platform and follow the path to water. A Red Leaf, two North Yellow Leaves, and North Black Rock inhabit this platform; collect them before moving further! Keep swimming underwater and follow the river until it dead ends behind a small Udam camp.
Get into the camp. Kill all enemies with bow, or use bushes and cover to move through camp onto next area. If you alert them accidently, just jump into the water and dive down to lose them. Go to the camp toward the next way point where you will hit a wall. When facing the wall, watch your left for a small rock ramp that you can climb up, this is marked with an Eagle Cave Painting. After reaching there, look up and slightly back toward the camp and you will see a grappling point.
Hold (R2/RT) to pull yourself up and prevent yourself from touching the water. Now you will need to swing yourself back and forth (Left Stick) and throw yourself over the small wall that was stopping you to move further. After reaching in the water on the other side you will swim through a small tunnel. Swim faster left to the small ramp! Three Bitefish and one Crocodile inhabit this water making it a very dangerous.
Since you are already out of the water, you will not need to kill these creatures but if you want their resources, kill them. Then Follow the ramp up to the small bridge, do not cross it and stay along the wall. This will lead you into the water. Keep swimming through the water, stay under water to avoid any Udam in the camp noticing you. Be sure to use Hunter Vision as a Crocodile is waiting near your exit.
If he is in the way you may need to retreat back to where you came and use a spear or bow to kill him. If you’ve stayed along the wall this all the time, you go up a small ramp that leads to the left side of the waterfall, from there you just need to do is swim straight through a small body of water and you are out of the cave.
Cave of Weeping Roots
- Difficulty: Medium
- Reward: 780 XP
This cave contains the highest amount of Udam, but there are many routes that lead you past them without any disturbance. Enter in the cave by sliding down the entrance. After reaching inside, follow the path down to a small drop off where you see an Udam Spearman looking over the Leopard he just killed.
Kill him and then light your weapon with the nearby fire and use it on the roots of the plant that block your way. After entering in the passage that just cleared, look right just before the sun hits the ground in the new area you enter. Use fire to again burn that root, so you can bypass all the enemies in the room. Keep moving in the small tunnel to its end and you will reach at a cliff. Straight in front of you on the right wall there is a Grappling Point.
Use it to quickly swing across the gap onto the other ledge. Keep crouching and sneak up on the Spearman that is guarding the fire nearby. Perform a quick kill and then move further. Another patch of tree roots blocks your progression. Use a lit arrow or spear to burn it before attempting to use the Grappling Claw to swing across. After crossing, you fall down a small drop before being forced to crouch through a very small tunnel.
Stick to the wall to your left and stay low. There is a caged Boar is at the top of the ramp. Free it from a distance to distract your enemies, allowing you to pass the animal cage to reach a patch of rocks that can be broken down with your club. Quickly break them down and follow the path to a small drop, then drop down and keep moving along the path. This path will lead you into a bigger room. Quickly kill the first enemy you see along the walkways.
In this way, you can avoid being spotted. Head a few steps back toward where you exited the tunnel and then locate the Grappling Point that lets you swing across to the area with the large dinosaur bones. Jump onto the small wall leading into the water, from there, use your bow to kill the Crocodile and two Bitefish that inhabit the water.
You can also use the stalactites hanging from the roof to help pick off any Udam in your way. After clearing the water you can simply swim over to the climbing point and exit the caves. If you do not have a shot on them, you have to kill the Udam that surround the area. This can easily be done from the bottom of the path. Kill the two Udam, an Elite Warrior and a Spearman, nearest the fire. The other enemies attack you one by one. Use your bow to kill them.
Go to the climbing point across the way and kill the Crocodile and two Bitefish, if you haven’t already. Climb the vines and follow the path to your direct left taking you out of the cave.
