There are some ranged weapons for your character in Dark Souls 3, so you can takedown monsters from the distance without take any damage. Very early in the game, you can buy an unlimited amount of arrows or bolts cheaply. Take advantage of this. As you progress, you unlock new and more powerful types of ammunition and combined with the right stats and an upgraded bow, this can allow you to inflict considerable damage from a distance.

Bows List:
Bow is a primary ranged weapon in any game, so as in Dark Souls 3. Composite Bow, and Longbow all being reasonable options early in the game and rare bows required heavier investment in Dex or Str to be used. For veteran players, the Rapid Fire skill on the Composite and Short Bows may be of particular interest.

Greatbows List:
Greatbows need heavy requirements to be used, and you typically cannot be used until later in a playthrough. Greatbows have slow rate of fire but do a massive damage against the distance enemies. You can’t use Greatbows are for general combat, but they can come in handy against certain big game targets.

Crossbows List:
Use as an off-hand weapon with a good rate of fire, but Crossbows needs good Dex, level to be used. They also so a good amount of damage and can be used in close combat if you manage to make some distance. Crossbows only have a basic Tackle skill, lacking the dedicated ranged skills of the other bows.
