Secret Public Event Types
This section details the 10 different Secret Public Events, which Sectors have access to the event type, and how to complete each one.
Ambush
Locations:
- EDZ: Sunken Isles
- Nessus: Artifact’s Edge, Exodus Black
An enemy appears at a specific point in the Sector, and engaging the foe and its brethren escalates into an ambush. After you defeat the initial combatants, a wave of melee combatants from a particular Combatant rushes in. After these are defeated, a final wave appears. Slay the Elite, and it drops a Loot Cache.
Fallen Incursion
Locations:
- Titan: The Rig (2)
Fallen scavengers are looting an area inside a Sector belonging to the Hive. If Guardians can defeat the Fallen leaders before they leave with the loot, you gain access to a Loot Cache.
Glimmer Refinery
Locations:
- EDZ: Sunken Isles
- Nessus: The Tangle
This is similar to the Glimmer Extraction Public Event, but at a much smaller scale. Fallen are leading a Glimmer drilling operation while their skiff hovers overhead. Engage, and expect enemy waves and a progression in difficulty. In the final wave, a special Servitor arrives; defeat it, and a Loot Cache is dropped. Destroy the Glimmer refineries on the ground near the foes before the third wave, and the final wave spawns a Heavy Shank instead.
High-Value Target

- EDZ: Trostland (2), The Sludge (3), Winding Cove, The Gulch (2), Sunken Isles (3)
- Titan: Siren’s Watch (2), The Rig
- Nessus: Watcher’s Grave (2), The Cistern (2), Hallows (2), Glade of Echoes (2), Exodus Black
- Io: Lost Oasis (2), The Rupture (2), Giant’s Scar (2)
Those with previous Destiny experience may remember a similar event to this. A high-tier Elite enemy appears and patrols in the various locations shown in the guide’s Director maps for a Sector that runs this event. If you can defeat the Elite before it disappears, a Loot Cache appears at the target’s location.
High-Value Target: Tactician
Locations:
- EDZ: Trostland (2), The Sludge
- Titan: Siren’s Watch
- Io: The Rupture
An elite combatant and a squad of cannon fodder appear at a hidden location. The crowd of lesser foes shields the commander, continuously respawning unless you focus and slay the Elite. Kill the commander before he disappears and a Loot Cache appears in his hiding place. Note that these enemies are shown throughout the Director as High-Value Targets. To differentiate them, note that these HVTs only have one spawn location on the guide map.
Interceptor Patrol
Locations:
- EDZ: The Gulch, Firebase Hades, Sunken Isles
A Psion piloting a Cabal Interceptor appears and roams the Sector until they are shot off the vehicle or the Interceptor is destroyed. The event ends when the Psion pilot is killed or when the time runs out. Aim for the Psion so you can use the Interceptor afterward without it becoming damaged during the fight. It has offensive capabilities unlike the Sparrow.
Pike Gang
Locations:
- EDZ: Outskirts, The Sludge, Winding Cove (2), The Gulch, Firebase Hades, Sunken Isles
- Nessus: The Cistern (2), Glade of Echoes, Exodus Black
Those with previous Destiny experience may remember a similar event to this. Three Pikes with Dreg pilots appear and roam around a Sector until they are shot off the Pike or the Pike is destroyed. The event ends when all the Pike Dregs are killed or when the time runs out. Shoot the Dregs to preserve the Pikes, and then ride the Pikes afterward, as they have offensive capabilities unlike the Sparrow.
Skirmish

- EDZ: Outskirts (2), Trostland (3), The Sludge, The Gulch, Firebase Hades (2), Sunken Isles
- Titan: Siren’s Watch, The Rig (2)
- Nessus: The Tangle (3), Watcher’s Grave, Hallows, Glade of Echoes (2), Exodus Black (2)
- Io: Lost Oasis (2), Giant’s Scar (2)
Those with previous Destiny experience may remember a similar event to this. Two enemy Combatants continuously appear and battle each other within a specific area of a Sector. As the event progresses, higher-tier combatants begin to appear. The event ends when the time runs out (five minutes). You can elect to watch or get involved in the Skirmish, though the rewards are simply loot dropped by foes.
Vex Cannon: Launchers
Locations:
- Nessus: The Tangle, The Cistern
- Io: Lost Oasis
A duo of Vex Hobgoblins appears at a circular Vex cannon in the Sector. Defeat them, and jump into the cannon. You are propelled to a second location where you must slay two more Hobgoblins. Then, propel yourself to a third location, fight two more Hobgoblins, and then propel yourself back to the initial location. A Storm Minotaur is now at this location. Defeat it, then dispatch the Minotaurs at the second and third cannon spots. Once you’ve completed two “circuits” of cannon jumping and slain the third and final Minotaur, it drops a Loot Cache.
Vex Prisoner: Jailbreak
Locations:
- Nessus: Artifact’s Edge, Watcher’s Grave (3), Glade of Echoes (2)
- Io: The Rupture, Giant’s Scar (3)
The Vex have imprisoned a powerful enemy, and a Vex warden is guarding it. Slay the warden, and the prison shield is dropped, releasing the prisoner. It attacks you, then flees. If you can defeat the prisoner before it escapes the Sector, you are rewarded with a Loot Cache.
